- Evaluation of working practices and adequacy of existing control measures to reduce exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace
- Application of COSHH Principles of Good Practice and recognised hierarchy of control to workplace exposure situations: elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative/procedural controls, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Review of applicability of best practice examples and proven technology to achieve effective control of exposures (e.g. COSHH Essentials, trade association guidelines)
- Evaluation of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems and recommendations on effective design and system specifications
- Advice on simple noise control measures
- Evaluation of PPE usage, and development of programmes for selection, use and maintenance in accordance with the PPE at Work Regulations, 1992
